Launched in 2001 in Chestertown, the schooner SULTANA is a reproduction of a Boston-built merchant vessel that once served in the British Royal Navy. Operated by the Sultana Education Foundation, she functions as a floating classroom on the Chesapeake Bay. Over the past 25 years, SULTANA has carried more than 100,000 students on hands-on programs in environmental science and history while continuing to sail throughout the region.
