The log canoe SILVER HEEL is one of approximately 20-25 surviving traditional Chesapeake Bay log sailing canoes – the primary fishing craft of the Bay for well over a hundred years. Now operated by the Silver Heel Foundation, the vessel is exhibited to help preserve and promote the tradition of log canoe sailing through education and research.
