Imani Black is an Eastern Shore native, having grown up directly across the river from Chestertown, and her family has a proud legacy of working in the Chesapeake Bay seafood industry. After graduating from college, Imani returned to the Shore to work in the oyster aquaculture industry and was struck by the lack of people of color in leadership roles. In this presentation, Ms. Black will discuss how her non-profit organization, Minorities in Aquaculture, is working to bring more minorities into the regional aquaculture industry and expose them to all of the employment and economic opportunities it has to offer.
